Is your lawn mower missing from the list?

Feel free to check out the Honda website in case you didn’t find your engine on this list.

Symptoms of a Bad Spark Plug

Are you thinking about replacing your current spark plug? There are some universal signs you need to look for:

  • Your lawn mower won’t start at all
  • The lawn mower needs repeated attempts to start properly
  • The engine misfires
  • Fuel consumption is noticeably increased
  • There are deposits and a buildup of residue on your spark plug
  • The spark plug is damaged

Are there any deposits? You need to remove the spark plug with a proper tool, clean it using a small knife and make sure that it is gapped properly. You can find the ideal gap size on the list above.

Changing Spark Plug on Your Lawn Mower

Here are the steps to change a spark plug on a Honda lawn mower:

  1. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool completely. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
  2. Use a spark plug socket and ratchet wrench to loosen and remove the old spark plug from the engine. Turn the spark plug counterclockwise to remove it.
  3. Check the gap of the new spark plug using a spark plug gap tool. The gap should be set to the manufacturer’s specifications for your specific Honda lawn mower engine.
  4. Install the new spark plug by hand, turning it clockwise until it is snug. Then, use the spark plug socket and ratchet wrench to tighten the spark plug to the manufacturer’s recommended torque.
  5. Reconnect the spark plug wire to the new spark plug, making sure it is pushed on firmly.
  6. Start the engine and check for proper operation. If everything is working correctly, you should notice improved engine performance and a smoother running engine.

It’s important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations when it comes to spark plugs for your lawn mower. Using the wrong spark plug can lead to poor performance, reduced fuel efficiency, and even engine damage.
